Bio

Yi-Kai Liu is a staff scientist at the National Institute of Standards and Technology and an adjunct assistant professor at the University of Maryland Institute for Advanced Computer Studies. He is also a Fellow at the Joint Center for Quantum Information and Computer Science and served as its co-director from 2020–2025. Liu’s research focuses on quantum computation and theoretical computer science, in particular, quantum algorithms and complexity, quantum state tomography, machine learning and quantum cryptography. He received his doctorate in computer science from UC San Diego in 2007.
