Bio

Andrew Childs is the director of the NSF Quantum Leap Challenge Institute for Robust Quantum Simulation and a professor of computer science with an appointment in the University of Maryland Institute for Advanced Computer Studies. He is also a fellow in the Joint Center for Quantum Information and Computer Science and served as its co-director from 2014–2024. Childs's main research interests are in the theory of quantum information processing, especially quantum algorithms. Childs received his doctorate in physics from MIT in 2004.
