In this event, Prof. Kubica, two time quantum chess champion, will first give a primer on the intricacies of quantum chess. Following this, he will talk about a different kind of quantum-focused strategy: transitioning from the quantum industry to academia.
Aleksander Kubica holds a position of Assistant Professor of Applied Physics at Yale University. Aleksander received his PhD from the California Institute of Technology. He was a postdoctoral fellow at Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics and the Institute for Quantum Computing, University of Waterloo, Canada. Subsequently, he worked as a research scientist at the Amazon Web Services Center for Quantum Computing in Pasadena, USA. Aleksander is interested in the theoretical aspects of quantum information science, including quantum computation, quantum algorithms, quantum error correction and quantum metrology. He has been laying the theoretical foundations of how to build fault-tolerant quantum computers and make them more resource-efficient.
